An email from an old gaming buddy inspired me to install Neverwinter Nights for the first time in a while. The catch? I’ve “converted” since the last time. So how do I install NWN Diamond in Linux? It’s really simple actually. You’ll need a few things at the ready before you begin. Here’s a list.
A directory called NWN (you’ll create it)
NWN Gold client
NWN Hordes of the Underdark client
Patch 1.69
To Infinity(engine) and Beyond!
Anyone who truly knows me knows that I am a sucker for every game built on Bioware’s Infinity engine. It all began with a friend and, at that time, occasional DM giving me a brief glimpse at his PIII running Bladur’s Gate on what must have been a 15″ or 17″ CRT monitor but what seemed at the time to be the most awesome display ever. That was around 1998. By late 1999 I had become a Bioware fanboy.
So recently, after my switch to Linux, I began to wonder if all my Infinity mod years were behind me. I honestly still think of these as some of the best games ever created and I long for the better story lines and some simple linear-ish gameplay from time to time.
